Eastern Part of the Fitzgerald River National Park
Closed to Visitors due to bushfire

A BUSHFIRE ADVICE is current for the eastern parts of the Fitzgerald River National Park (FRNP) within the Shire of Ravensthorpe in an area bounded by Quoin Head Track and  Hamersley Drive to the west, along the coastline to the south through to Phillips River to the east and West River to the north.

The bushfire is not contained or controlled and is moving in a south south-westerly direction. Active aerial water bombing is taking place.

As a result Hamersley Inlet Campground (managed by the Shire of Ravensthorpe) and Four Mile Campground (managed by Parks and Wildlife) are CLOSED until further notice. For campground enquiries please contact the respective agencies.

In addition a number of roads and tracks within the park have been closed including:

  • Hamersley Drive North from West River Road through to East Mount Barren
  • Access to the eastern end of the national park via Hamersley Inlet Road
  • Moir Track
  • Quoin Head Track
  • Hakea Walk Trail

There is also a SMOKE ALERT ADVICE for people using South Coast Highway near the Fitzgerald River National Park west of Ravensthorpe as the bushfire is generating smoke and impacting the highway. Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke and be aware of fire and emergency services personnel working on site.

The cause of the fire is lightning. Parks and Wildlife Service is managing the fire.
