The Shire of Ravensthorpe is advising not to travel to the Fitzgerald Coast region and to avoid visiting the townsites of Ravensthorpe and Hopetoun as we have limited local health facilities and resources to cater for visitors who become ill with COVID-19.

All campgrounds (Starvation Bay, Masons Bay and Hamersley Inlet) including the 48-hour free RV campsites have been closed as well as all public ablutions with the exception of Jubilee Park, Ravensthorpe and the facilities at Hopetoun Foreshore near the town beach.

Official government advice is asking that all non-essential travel be avoided which includes holidaying and travelling to regional areas. If you do need to travel between Esperance and Albany we ask road users to follow the South Coast Highway route and to use the heavy haulage bypass route when reaching Ravensthorpe to avoid entering the townsite.

Travellers illegally camping risk infringement and are asked to make immediate plans to head to Perth with the WA Government announcing further regional restrictions were being planned.
